Seasons Bleatings June 2008_ Meat/Fiber Goats
GROW YOUR OWN MEAT for the
freezer
Holy Moly's
Boy08 # 0249
Born 2-15-08 to HMFF Pinto Machismo
(spotted Boer) and HMFF Holy Moly (classic Boer pattern). See
dam and sire below. He carrys the spotted gene like his
sire and shows it on the back of his head . 5 generation pedigree.
Solid Boer pedigree at a homestead price / not registered Use this guy
to breed your own meat for the freezer! If you get some pretty
spotted coats... save the skins and have them tanned for extra return on your
dollar. Boers are also well known for their downy winter undercoat (that
is cashmere by the way) which can be combed out in spring and used for
spinning $100 through the month of June. OR see Wether Special below.
sire: a winter-fuzzy
photo...lots of marketable cashmere!
dam: Holy Moly
and #249
Meat doe deal
Get two high quality young African Pygmy meat does
(Joan and Roan) plus two Pygmy x Boer doe kids (Smidge and Midge) for
$200 The kids were quads out of Pinto Machismo... so you would
be reinforcing the spotting gene... and they are very tame since I gave them a
supplemental bottle for about 6 weeks. The Pygmy is highly prolific and
produces an amazing amount of high quality milk to grow out their babies in
record time.
Another meat doe possibility:
Suzettes Girl08
at twin out of
my BEST French Alpine doe and my Boer buck. She is a twin and growing
great on moms vast milk supply. Could be milked and bred back to Boer
for meatgoat offspring. $125 includes a 5 generation pedigree from my
records. Can send updated photo upon request.
Suzette's Boy
08 (see the dairy page for his picture) is the twin
to the brown doe above. He is pinto'd brown and white. Will be
wethered. $60 through the month of June (or see Wether Deal
below)
Elvira's Boy08 [ask for a
photo]
This a a great looking kid out of a Nubian x Boer
dam (see her photo below) and Pinto Machismo (my spotted Boer buck
seen above). If you like the dual nature of the Nubian (milk and meat),
you might like this buck to put on your nannies. He would be 3/4 Boer and
1/4 Nubian. Flashy and vigorous... with LONG LONG ears. Gorgeous. A
twin. $75 through the month of June
Dam: Elvira is a nice big bodied doe.
One White and
One Black - Cashgora Wethers born 2008.
A couple of options with these
goats:
1. Keep him as a weed eater and cashgora fiber
producer. The fleece will be wonderful year after year. If you don't get
it combed out , it will shed.. so no worries about shearing. If you are a
spinner , you will appreciate the baby soft fineness of cashgora.
2. Graze your pastures for weeds until
winter, then butcher him for your freezer...angora x boer is the BEST tasting
goatmeat! Be sure to get that hide tanned... it will be prime
in December-January and very valuable.
$60 each through the month of
June. or take BOTH for $100
