WE HAVE
KIDS!
week old kids already nibbling at hay
We had 20 kids born within a four
day period of time! Plus friends that bought bred goats from HMFF this
year also had their kids at this time... I have NEVER had so many all
at once. My 5 stall maternity barn was overflowing... I was scrambling
to make pens and some goats had to double-up with a roommate in the
12 pens I was able to cobble together. Whew! I don't think
I even brushed my hair for three days... (quite a sight I assure you)...
not to mention cook, sleep or do ANYTHING else. There are still
some goats left to kid, and the sheep... but the bulk of the kidding
is done. I turned them all out in the mixing pen on an
unbelievable warm t-shirt kind of weather day (We are having very
strange weather for mid February, but I am NOT complaining!).

go to their new home Thanks to Michelle and Matt who
purchased HMF Starr (bred) and Peas & Carrots (with doe kid
at side) from the February newsletter! I am always so pleased
to find my goats such good homes.
SPECIAL FIND for
the friends of HMFF!
I found on ebay and purchased a copy
of Lem Jones book Angora Goats Then and Now 1849-1995 This
book is out of print and hard to find... and since I already have a
copy I am going to offer this copy to the first person that writes to
me at hmffarm@fidnet.com It is
the definitive book on the history of the angora goat in the United
States (and alittle pre-history too!) LOTS of pictures of the early
goats that will really surprise you. The book looks NEW... not
a blemish. $30 includes postage.
