HMFF GOAT
PAGE
From a customer: Our little Betsy
(the [alpine] we bought from you) is doing great-she looks small ,
but actually weighs as much as the other nubian doeling who is 6 weeks older.
Betsy is just dainty and petite looking-her coat is very shiny, and she
is
growing great! We entered her in an online goat show. Honestly I think she
looks
way better than the others, but of course I am biased. You can see her
picture
at www.goatshows.com. She is listed in the junior does in the Alpine
category
and she is the second one listed...
Note: I did check out that website and it looks
like a fun way to "show" your goats without hauling them to a show! And
Betsy looks fantastic! Its always wonderful to see the animals I sell
being well cared for, fat and sassy. - kbh
Featured Housemilker: HNF
Suzette
Ms Suzette is the goat that lives up to the maxim
that "Alpines have Attitude". She does.
Four years old and bossy! Hogs all the food. Bites
ears to get her way (not mine, thankfully). However, she is obedient and patient
on the milking stand . Never puts her foot in the bucket. Allows the grandkids
to milk her with ease. So I forgive her.
She caught my eye at auction right away as a kid. A
bad disbudding job left her with one curled horn like a teacup handle... but
what beautiful long lines she had! And her pedigree is what sold her: she
was a grand daughter of PBH Jean Luc (a prized tri-banded buck I owned and who
was lost in our barnfire many years ago).
a nice deep body, high udder, long straight back
and clean crisp color with those flashy black stockings. She is a pretty
goat.
a more rounded escutcheon with wide-set,
straight back legs, good sized handmilking teats on a well suspended udder.
Suzette had twins
for me this spring and produced a buck that I am going to grow out and use on
a few does this fall. He is a real beauty! Long and tall with elegant
lines and flashy coloration like his mama. His sire is Beniesoit Tate Tristan.
See the white horseshoe on his side? His name is HMFF Coup de Chance
(french for stroke of luck) Look for Chance's kids next spring!
IF you are
looking for a French Alpine buck , I still have two of them for
sale! (see the last two months newsletters for details and photos).
I would consider a trade for hay or another French
Alpine that is unrelated to mine. $125 each registerable and
disbudded.
