Private Spinning Lesson
An afternoon spinning on the porch at HMFF! Your wheel
or mine. All fibers provided. I'll get you started. Learn fiber preparation,
wheel function, spinning and plying. $60 for 4 hours of side by side
instruction.
Rainbow Dye Techniques
This is an afternoon workshop that demonstrates how to
rainbow dye a fleece and yarn. A wool fleece and dye is provided.
Students are asked to bring a centerpull ball of their own or a
purchased handspun wool. Handouts and samples go home with students.
$30 each. Minimum class size: 5
Knitwit Mittens I and II
Mittens I is a basic mitten pattern that uses one strand of your handspun
and another of christmas glitz yarn. The finished mitten is
festive, machine washable and makes a great holiday gift. [ Min class
size 5 ] 2-3 hour class $20 each includes glitz yarn and pattern.
Mittens II is a variation of the basic mitten pattern that utilizes
your handspun smooth yarn and a smaller amount of designer yarn on the
top of the mitten. [minimum class size : 5] 2-3 hour class. $20 each
includes designer yarn, pattern.
Natural Mothproofing Techniques
A hands-on, 2 hour workshop exploring various herbal mothproofing techniques
. Students go home with samples of moth-repellant wool wash, spinning
oil, gel room deodorizer, sachets, drawer liners, and wax inserts. Herbs
used include Lavender, Cedar, Camphorata, and others. $30 per student
includes all supplies and how-to booklet.

Can be done as a 1 hour demonstration with one small sample
for students and simplified handout for $12 per student.

Simple Genetics
Colored Angora Goat Inheritance.
A 3 hour workshop covers the basics of inheritance followed by specific
information on colored angora colors, patterns, polling and eye color.
"Field trip" to barn if available. $30 per student includes
a copy of the booklet Simple Genetics. Classroom facilities required
for this class.

Spinning Goat
Techniques for working with various goat fibers.
A 2 hour workshop that covers instructions for washing, preparing and
spinning of mohair, cashmere, cashgora and other goat fibers and blends.
Includes both basic and novelty yarn techniques. $30 per student includes
samples all spinning fibers and booklet "Marvelous Mohair"
. Students must have basic spinning skills to take this class.

Wool and Beyond
Wool, Mohair and Angora
This is a day-long intensive workshop intended for the beginning spinner.
Break for lunch.
Includes:
I. Wool the Classic Fiber: woolen, worsted, flicking,
carding, picked wool, blended wool, twist, drafting, adjusting wheel...
with samples of fine, medium and strong wools plus blends . Display
items. II. Marvelous Mohair: spinning carded, picked, blended samples,
novelty yarns (including tailspun), adjusting wheel.... with samples
of kid, yearling, fine adult, strong adult, blends and dyed samples.
III. Angora the Luxury Fiber: plucked vs sheared, spinning from picked,
carded, blended, adjusting wheel ... with samples of baby rabbit, prime
plucked and sheared, blended .
$50 per student includes booklet "Wool & Beyond"
and covers the topics above plus washing , blending and mothproofing
.

CAGBA Inspectors Training
Whether you want to learn to be an official CAGBA inspector, or just
learn more about assessing your own goats, this is an excellent course
. Covers fleece assessment on and off goat , physical inspection of
goats, CAGBA registry standard, LOTS of hands-on. Dress appropriately
for the barn. Approx. 3 hours. $60 per student includes CAGBA book.
